about e:grace
Hi. I’m Jon, and I’m a blogger.
I’ve begun the e:grace blog to share my perspective on religion, life, spirituality, family, church, among so many other things.
I call this adventure ‘e-grace’ (short for Emerging Grace) because that has many meanings for me. Having grown up in the so-called ‘Grace Movement,’ I am emrging from that identity and system of belief. Having ‘progressed’ to a denominational Christianity, I am realising more today than ever that legalism is a sham Christianity and has nothing to do with the freedom that comes as we receive God’s unconditional grace. So in one sense I see myself emerging from a ‘Grace’ organisation and into a ‘graced’ life.
And perhaps there’s a third meaning as well, because I have been privileged to have come in contact with several wonderful people who are part of the Emergent conversation that is finding its way into many corners of our world and into our systems of Churchianity. The Emergent conversation through the many books, blogs, and podcasts is starting to shape a good portion of my thinking in how this thing called Christianity is supposed to work.
I’m still being challenged and shaped by God and the many friends that have come across my path. I hope as you read these pages you’ll take whatever I say as a reflection of my journey or experience, and if it blesses or challenges you then I’m grateful.
